When you meet Joyce Nghiishililwa, you don’t just hear her story – you feel it. There’s an easy warmth about her that radiates through every clip she shares, every kilometre she travels, every caption she writes. It’s not by accident that she was chosen as FlyNamibia’s very first Face of FlyNamibia back in 2022.
When Joyce became FlyNamibia’s ambassador, she was fresh out of university, wrapping up her accounting degree, still deciding where life might take her. Life, it turns out, wanted her on the move. That first step into the skies changed everything. “It’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” she says. The recognition, the excitement – it gave her a platform, but more than that, it gave her permission to share her Namibia with the world.
Ask her where her love for travel really began, and she’ll tell you it started on a seven-day road trip across Namibia with friends – Etosha, Swakopmund, Sossusvlei – the open road and good company turned her world wide open. Since then, she’s made it her mission to get more Namibians to discover their own country first – to see the beauty that’s right here, waiting to be felt and shared.
For Joyce, travel isn’t about the photos alone. It’s about people. The stories swapped on dusty backseats, the laughter that lingers long after you’ve returned. She sees travel as a reminder that we belong to each other – one story at a time.
Her followers know Joyce for her playful, genuine energy – the little moments she turns into memories. She doesn’t chase trends; she shares what’s real. “I just post what I love,” she smiles. “I want you to feel like you’re seeing life through my lens.” Her favourite? The rivers of Zambezi. “It felt like a dream,” she says. “You see the animals, the rivers, the people – it stays with you.”
Today, she hopes young Namibians, especially women, see her story and find the courage to tell their own. “Save a little every month,” she says. “Go somewhere. You never know what your heart needs until you find it.” It’s that gentle push that makes her more than an influencer – it makes her sunshine – a guiding light for a new generation of explorers.
We’re for Namibians. And Joyce reminds us: there’s joy here, waiting for all of us – if we just go find it.
